Hold On To Me
03:05
|
|||
Hold on to me in the darkness of the night
Hold on to me and everything will be all right.
When the world that we know
Pulls like an undertow
Hold on to me and everything will be all right
Way out in the open,
out in the sunshine.
Way out in the open
There ain’t no place love can hide.
So just hold on to me.
I’ll hold on to you if the wind should take a turn
I'll hold on to you cause I know you won't let me burn
When the world does us wrong
We'll keep each other strong.
I'll hold on to you and everything will be all right
Way out in the open,
Out in the sunshine
Way out in the open
There ain’t no place love can hide.
So just hold on to me.

Filling In The Fade
02:49
|
|||
You were still asleep when I got on my way.
Now I’m on the road slipping through the grey.
When my work is done, I wrap up my day
With freeway time again, filling in the fade.
Minutes in the month, hours in the day
A quiet open space, filling in the fade.
There’s so much time between the moments
That we always hold so dearly
But every tiny dip in the valley of a wave
Is pushing up the crest and filling in the fade.
There’s so much time between the moments
That we all remember clearly
But every tiny dip in the valley of a wave
Is pushing up the crest and filling in the fade.

A Good Day To Die
03:28
|
|||
Things are as good as you can possibly expect.
But you keep finding being tough don’t get respect.
Weakness never comes from caring
‘Cause a loving heart is far more daring.
When you greet the day with your hand on your gun
You will quickly find you’re not the only one.
If you come looking for a fight,
Then that fight is gonna come.
You’d been better off looking for love.
If it’s good day to die, it’s a better day to live.
When you’re doing it right, there is so much more to give.
Being ready to say goodbye is really only half of it.
If it’s a good day to die, it’s a better day to live.
Now I’m not saying its not a hard run
and its very clear you are a smart one.
Nobody’s ever doubting all the trials that come your way,
But how much of its unnecessary pain?
If you can greet the world with your arms opened wide,
Take the good and bad and brave the by-and-by,
When everyone gets crazy, you won’t have to wonder why
You just look them in the eye
And tell them all that hey…
It may be a good day to die, but it’s a better day to live.
When you’re doing it right, there is so much more to give.
Being ready to say goodbye is only half of it.
If it’s a good day to die, it’s a better day to live.
I bet it’s a good day to die, but a better day to live.
If it’s good day to die, it’s a better day to live.
When you’re doing it right, there is so much more to give.
Being ready to say goodbye is really only half of it.
If it’s a good day to die, it’s a better day to live.

I’m on my way to Stockton and I can’t rest my head.
I can hardly wait until I’m in your arms again.
Because this rolling life has got to me
and no one else can hold me still like you.
It’s been taxis through the city and meetings on the phone:
Drawn out conversations with people that I hardly know
That never mean as much to me
As sitting there in silence next to you.
I’m coming home to you.
I’m coming home to you.
I’m living off of photographs and memories of your voice.
Its how I keep you with me when I’m buried by the noise
Of this busy world I'm living in.
I don’t know how I make it but I do.
I’m coming home to you.
I’m coming home to you.
When I get lost out on the road
I need someone to come find me.
I need someone to remind me
why I ever leave my home.
I’m coming home to you.
I’m coming home to you.
I’m on my way to Stockton and I can’t rest my head.
I can hardly wait until I’m in your arms again.
Because this rolling life has got to me
and no one else can hold me still like you.

I Will Fall
03:03
|
|||
You might see me slip,
but I won’t hit the ground
Not if I have you around.
You’ve got quite a grip.
You’re stronger than you know.
You keep me still when I want to let go.
You hold me steadily
As I move clumsily
To what I want to be.
And though it tests my pride,
If you’re not by my side
I will fall down without you around.
I will always doubt
where I stand today.
Maybe I am bound to live that way.
But with you in my life,
it turns into a dance.
And gracefully you give me half a chance.
Cause I’m the enemy
Of my enemies
And I hope you see
That you strengthen up my fight
And though I walk a line
I won’t fall down with you around.

Summer
04:39
|
|||
Summer, you’re staying too long.
I am aware that this will sound wrong.
Summer, turn down your light.
I’m ready for fall and cold winter nights.
When I give my heart out
it just doesn't feel right
to give it all to the summertime.
Summer, it’s time go.
The campfire is now just ember glow.
My body's been run. Its sun-baked and weary
and I need some rest to help me see clearly.
When I give my heart out
it just doesn't feel right
to give it all to the summertime.
Summer, you ain't fooling me.
I know the way the pendulum swings.
When I give my heart out
y’know it doesn’t feel right
to give it all to the summertime.
